Iran’s premier women’s magazine, Zanan-e Emrooz (Today’s Women), has been suspended after it published a piece about “white marriage”, or living together without being married. The Iranian government suspended publication of the magazine and was expected to file a court case for prosecution.
“White marriage” is becoming increasingly common in Iran. Pieces about the practice have recently been published in BBC (“Can Iran ‘control’ its cohabiting couples?“) and LA Times (“‘White marriage’ a growing trend for young couples in Iran“).
