A London school has tried to ban mothers from driving their children to school, based on a religious pronouncement of Israeli Rabbi Yissachar Dov Rokeach. Last week the Belz educational institutions sent out a letter saying children would be expelled if their mothers drove them. The group appears to be backing down, after the British Equality and Human Rights Commission has declared it illegal.
The rabbi has also instructed Blez women to shave their heads, and not to wear noisy shoes, as as “noisy shoes was the reason God destroyed ancient Israel“.
The hat is called a “schtreimel” and can cost upwards of $5000.
