The site has thousands of nude photos, plus “Since Jan. 30, more than two dozen women – many on active duty, including officers and enlisted service members – have been identified by their rank, full name and military duty station.” Comments about a stealth photo of one woman marine: “‘take her out back and pound her out.” Others suggested more than vaginal sex: “And butthole. And throat. And ears. Both of them. Video it though… for science.”
This article, “A nude photo scandal has shaken the entire Marine Corps“, was just published yesterday, but the scandal was revealed on Reddit over five months ago. According to a spokesman, and by “spokesman” I mean a male man speaking officially for this group and its board of directors, said “We ask that our members get permission to share such content before doing so, although under the fair use policy and laws regarding the ownership of digital media, they are not required to do so.” In other words, if you can sneak up on someone with a camera, they won’t take it down. He categorized the contents of the site as “exactly what you would expect” and said “bar brawls, broken homes, scorned women and drunken stupors” were “just another day in the life of a devil dog”. Sheesh, no wonder they’re suicidal.
Some U.S. Marines have reacted to the piece by saying the author who spoke out about the website should be tortured and murdered, his wife should be raped. There is a bounty for picture of his daughter, and Marines United has published addresses of his friends and family.
Kind of like the Lightbreather thing. I’m not going to link to it, but it’s well-known that someone has been stalking LB all over the internet trying to get her particulars, no doubt they’re planning more porn or worse. “She forgot her place in the world and was crushed for it…the truth is that no one on Wikipedia really cared about that topic.” The rest can come later, this is the first step, the silencing.
The Marines at least have set up hotlines and legal assistance. What has the WMF done? Zilch.
