Barbie’s last supper

ZOMG.

Doesn’t really work like this one, because triangles.

Barbie because a “visible contrast to art’s usual subjects, who are typically male unless they are merely in the painting to represent beauty”.

Nope.

This is better.

  1. I’m not suggesting that men and women are treated equally in art, but the statement “art’s usual subjects, who are typically male unless they are merely in the painting to represent beauty” is too sweeping. One of the commonest subjects in Western art has been the Madonna and Child: the figure of the Madonna is there to represent firstly herself as an historical person and secondly an ideal of Motherhood. You may not regard that as progressive but it is not a representation of Beauty as such.

  2. Except that Théry didn’t exactly say “all women in all art are always used to represent beauty all the time without any exceptions”, did she? She said “art’s usual subjects, who are typically male”, which IMO is an interesting explanation of the piece. But I think you already know that, so the only question remaining is why you continue to troll me and waste my time.
