The 34th Chaos Communication Congress has welcomed rapists, given a platform to their enablers, and shut down conversations about safety and inclusivity.
But oh look, someone has defied the censors, put it all on a slide, and displayed it for the assembled throngs.
That someone turns out to be Mahsa Alimardani, @maasalan, who promised on Twitter:
My talk is going to be themed with a badass Iranian vampire who eats men who hurt women. If you have to ask why, then you haven’t been paying attention.
Sounds good to me. Here’s a description of her talk, all about Iranian censorship, surveillance, and encryption, but which unfortunately does not contain any vampire information whatsoever.
Could this possibly be a reference to the black-and-white Iranian spaghetti-western vampire cult film A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, by Ana Lily Amirpour, who has been dubbed “the next Tarantino”?
Ah ha ha ha Amirpour seems to have had a venturesome childhood:
“Eventually, she rounded up enough peers for a slumber party and made them the cast of a slasher movie. When she showed the result to her parents, it made them jump. “That was very satisfactory.” She was 12. Later, she became more adept socially,…”
Oh yes it’s a comic book too, which you can get for a paltry £0.69.
Slurp, slurp, indeed.
