Is Wikirev down?

Just cruised by wikirev and noticed this:

You get this message no matter which thread you try to access.

Kind of surprising that Wikirev is still around.  They formed about a year and a half ago, with the remnants of the group taken down by Proboards (see Wikipedia Review Proboards down) and these days mostly act as a link farm for Breitbart articles. If Breitbart’s SEO strategy now depends on that, they must be really hurting from the Sleeping giants campaign. (Sleeping Giants@slpng_giants)

In any case, Auggie has been posting more on Wikipediocracy lately, this seems to be fairly typical of his output there, perhaps one of his milder comments:

Not sure what this was about.

tarantino responds to auggie on WR

Tarantino seems to be a mod for both Sucks and Wikipediocrazy.

  1. Forums are outdated to some large extent anyway, as social media and chat is slowly making them less relevant.

Not that wikirev was that relevant to anyone except hardcore wikicritic site fans to begin with.

No doubt Auggie will fix his database soon though.

  2. It was back in a matter of hours, wonder what happened and if they will be transparent about it.

Rogol / Renee has just found his way over there, not as prolific as Abd, but at least Auggie should have some company now.

The Wikipedia forums are useful for institutional memory, a lot of it is not indexed by google, including Wikipedia itself, only long-time insiders know where to find it, and even more of it cannot be discussed on Wikipedia itself for fear of repercussions. This is partly why Sucks is not that useful, Crowsnest never links to sources so you have no way of knowing if his ranty tl:dr are true, or of reading them for yourself – obviously no one is going to go through them, much less accept them at face value without links. He is right a lot of the time, but he can also take very wrong interpretations, which could probably be easily straightened out and find out what kind of shenanigans someone is really up to if you had the source. If he can’t figure out how to edit links in that forum he should just paste the bare URL and let one of the mods fix it, although he should be able to pick up the formatting easily enough, I think it is the quote function that will show the coding in preview.

  3. “Rogol / Renee has just found his way over there” If you think that 310 postings since 2017 is aptly described by “just”, then yes. What is it that makes you so keen to promote your theories about my identity? And to refer to someone with a female name as “his”?

  4. So, trolling usually has two components, finding a group to disrupt, then finding anther group to go back and brag about it to, for a sense of importance. The incel kids are great for this one.

If Renée/Rogol’s new bragging group is WikiRev, the new trollee seems to be Jimmy Wales’ WikiTribune. Which, (poor JImbo, doesn’t seem to be doing so well) has let all their employees go, presumably because they can’t pay them.

But what’s this? It was speculated before that since Rogol has at least 15 known socks (see Renée is the new Rogol), all starting with the letter R, and all male, that Renée was just some kind of typo for the feminine instead of the masculine form of the name, since the British are not known for their French language skills.

But now I am reminded of the moment in I Claudius (episode 9) when Derek Jacobi gasps in awe, as he gazes on Caligula (John Hurt): “Y-y-you have become a GOD.”

Could it be….Rogol has decided to be a woman????
