Intermission: Raga Piloo

Here is a raga pilu from India performed by two women, Anoushka Shankar on sitar and and Patricia Kopatchinskaja on violin.

A raga is a musical framework used for improvisation. Ragas are intended to evoke particular emotions.

Maybe read about raga pilu here. A pilu is a light raga commonly used for folk songs and love songs, especially in northern India. It is meant to express “joy, devotion, happiness, and love”.
