For those readers who depend on me for a synopsis of all the wiki-gossip, it would be remiss of me not to report on the demise of Eric Corbett. The wiki-Corbett, that is. The real-life Corbett is alive and well and being protected from peasants with pitchforks – at least for the moment – by the moderators at Wikipediocracy, at least until they can squeeze a little more popcorn out of him.
Corbett was brought to arbcom, from what I can tell, by some newbie millennials who were too naive to know he was supposed to be untouchable.
The millennials will solve the gun control problem as well, just give them a little time.
Corbett then rage-quit, as he has done before, and created a new sock, as he has done before. Arbcom then indeffed him for socking to avoid yet another arbcom dramafest. Sockpuppetry is one of Wikipedia’s biggest lies, but this time they have an actual SPI, and have declared Abuwtiyuw_666 to be Corbett. Not sure how to pronounce it… “something something to you”, I suppose, …the 666 part is probably self-explanatory

The other sites more than make up for it though. Corbett’s enablers are tearing through enwiki in a frenzy though, and having been restrained on Wikipediocracy, the would-be Corbett-chasers are going after remnants of Corbett’s entourage instead. *cough* Sitush.
Someone dug up one of Corbett’s old RFAs as “Malleus” (that’s Latin for “hammer”), and the nominator waxed eloquent over Corbett’s copyedits. That’s all they want him for, doing the grunt work so they can have the little stars to decorate their user pages. How much copyedit grunt work did he do when he was socking? No, he wrote articles.
Make no mistake, this is Ragnorok. The end of the wiki world as we know it. When the dust clears, the old gods will be no more. This is preliminary to the New World Order that takes effect after the Strategy comes to pass. The old guard will be cleared out. Maybe arbcom, maybe checkuser, maybe admins. Will T&S have any use? Or will they all consume each other, leaving a virgin world, like Spock’s casket landing on the Genesis planet.
At the end of Rognorok Thor is dead; the Midgard Serpent rises from the bottom of the ocean and they kill each other. Wolves eat the sun, and even the stars disappear. As a new sun rises in a new green world, only a few gods survive, along with …Thor’s hammer…
Who knows, maybe Corbett’s final act of defiance will be legal action against the WMF, as the Wikipeciocrazies are trying to urge on him.
But yeah, I kinda like Corbett.

We’re not really protecting him from “peasants with pitchforks” over at Wikipediocracy; in fact, I was asked by at least four members to remove several abusive posts directed at him and not only did I not do that, I removed the posts asking me to remove the posts. (This in in keeping with my new ambition to become known as “the worst forum moderator in the world.”)
Still, since yours is the only opinion in the whole world that I actually respect or care about, I’ll let you decide: Should we ban him too, just like Wikipedia did? Normally we try to do the opposite of what they do, but say “yes” and it’s done.

Somey is never ironic, although your current “I like Corbett” line has me scratching my head about you in exactly the same way that you are about Jake.
EC will be gone soon enough either way since Vig hates his guts and Corbett has a glass chin, to use an old boxing expression. (I personally think EC’s best use would be as ballast for a hot air balloon.)
Don’t underestimate the respect that many of us at WPO have for you and your project. It’s real and it’s not ironic, even if we may not agree with every word or share every perspective.

Corbett’s Monday strike campaign against the Visual Editor was something honorable. When his ire was directed at WMF products being released without enough testing, there was schadenfreude all around. But when he turned it on people, it became sickening. His cheering squad did him no favors by egging him on. And that kind of poison spreads; in Wikipediocrazy-land, Vigilant is the new Corbett.
EC’s best use would be copyediting articles for DYK and FA review in a place where there is no talk page access.
Forget “Talk-To-Transformer”, what you need is “Talk to Eric”. Raw article in, copyedited article out. Release the Corbenated results CC by SA 3.0. Someone could probably even figure out how to monetize it, but people would probably do it just for the lulz.

Not really. Vig is an attack dog researcher with an somewhat unfortunate tendency towards outing and threatening RL harassment of his targets. Fortunately, he picks his targets with some care and does the research; the excesses need to be watched and reined in though. He’s also a hilarious insult comedian, although your mileage may vary… Corbett is more like a bitter drunk at the bar that rails at anyone within ten feet of him and is constantly spitting on the floor and fighting patrons in the alley.

But I’m missing the piece where you went after their personal lives, the relationship stuff. The dudes you criticize for specific stuff they did, and even provide links. Their personal lives are left alone, even if it’s the c-suite. With the women it’s always sexual innuendo and sleeze, unless it’s insinuations about their mental health. And I don’t see where you combed through old events, looking for unflattering photos for the dudes. Women are condemned just for appearing unattractive, or not submissive enough. Or in Dr. Hale’s case, for failing to be swept off her feet by dudes. That must really burn that she chooses women over the likes of you clowns.
